Lesson sign ups 2018-19
Dear Parent/Guardian and Student,
The music department is again implementing an after-school lesson program for all instrumental and vocal students enrolled in King Philip performing ensembles. Please read this letter carefully and complete the form/link to the right by Friday, September 14, 2018.
Private Lessons are strongly encouraged for all student musicians. The lesson program is designed to offer student musicians the opportunity to study with a specialist on a one-to-one basis. This will not replace existing class lessons, but offer advanced training in technique, solo literature, and musicianship.
Our teaching staff is all play and teach professionally throughout the Boston area. Your student will receive expert instruction on their chosen instrument.
All lessons are held after school at King Philip Regional High School. Please note that the staff is not available every day so scheduling will be done to accommodate as many students as possible.
Each student and teacher will be responsible for 28 lessons between the first week in October and the first week in May. The remainder of the year will be used for makeup lessons.
The collection of the lesson fees is coordinated by me with the assistance of the KPMA treasurer and lesson payment coordinator.
There are two payment periods, with school vacations calculated into the equation, during the course of the year. Semester 1 is from October through the end of January, and Semester 2 is from February through the first full week of May. Lessons will be billed on a semester basis however you can pay in a manner that is most convenient to you (i.e. weekly, monthly, lump sum). Payment for Semester 1, however, must be paid by the end of January. Your student's teacher will contact you to begin lessons in October.
Semester 1 (16 Lessons) Semester 2 (12 Lessons)
10/1/18 - 1/25/19 1/28/18 - 5/3/19
Half Hour $ 400.00 $ 300.00
45 Minute $ 600.00 $ 450.00
One Hour $ 800.00 $ 600.00
Please do not allow financial concerns as a reason not to participate. The King Philip Music Association is available for financial assistance if needed. Any financial arrangements will be kept confidential. Please call me at my office at 508-384-1000 ext. 426 to discuss the matter or e-mail me at email@example.com.
Previous balances from past years need to be addressed before a lesson can be scheduled for this coming year.
Thank you for your continuing support of the King Philip Regional School District Music Program.
All the best,
For your convenience, we have added a Paypal button for lesson payments. Without adding to our administrative costs, there is a separate button for each lesson option for the First Semester Only. Please note, the payment requirement includes a 3% surcharge which is KPMAs cost for the use of Paypal.
For anyone who wants to pay the full year or partial payment, please click on the following button. This will require you to calculate and add on the 3% to your payment. For example, if you are only paying $300, you would multiply by 1.03 for a total of $309. Enter that number into the payment. Enter the amount in the "donation per item" box.
Private Lesson Scholarship Application
This year 10 scholarships in the amount of $300 will be awarded to students taking private lessons. This money has been generously earmarked by the King Philip Music Association. The lesson scholarships are available for study on the instrument or voice part you perform in your school ensemble. To be eligible you must be enrolled in your school's curricular ensemble for the entire year. If a scholarship recipient misses two lessons and the absences are unexcused (see "Private Lesson - Cancellation and Makeup Policy") that student will forfeit the scholarship and be responsible for paying the full amount of their tuition. Scholarship applications must be completed by Friday, September 28, 2018.
Click on the button below to complete the application.
Private Lesson Cancellation and make up Policy
This policy have been written, with students and teachers in mind, to clarify the cancellation and makeup of lessons. When students register for lessons they are playing for a certain number of lessons as much as they are paying for a weekly time slot which the teacher has designated for the student. For this reason the following policies will be in place:
Cancellation: When conflicts with the agreed upon lesson time occur students and teachers must provide each other at least twenty-four hours notice. If the student fails to notify the teacher the lesson will be forfeited. If the teacher fails to notify the student the lesson will be made up. Lessons cancelled due to having too much homework or needing to study will be forfeited.
No Show: If a students fails to show for a lesson and does not communicate their absence the lesson will be forfeited.
Illness and Family Emergency: In the event of personal illness or family emergency the student or teacher will notify the other party as soon as possible. All lessons due to personal illness and family emergencies will be made up.
No School: Lessons scheduled on days where there is no school (i.e. Federal Holidays, snow days, school vacations) will be made up. Lessons do take place on early release days. School vacations are optimal times to schedule makeup lessons.
Extended Absences: If you are involved in another activity such as athletics, ski club, drama, other musical ensembles, etc. that require multiple lessons to be rescheduled it is appropriate to provide the teacher with all dates at least one week in advance. The teacher may not be able to accommodate your request.
Makeup lessons should be concluded by the end of the school year.
